Karen
Sielski
fine arts
Karen has been drawing most of her life. She explains that sketching
helps her to focus, especially during meetings. While her cartoons
can be irreverent, her art is vibrant and contemporary, in some cases
reflecting Talavera motifs, abstract forms, or classic subjects. She
works in ink, acrylic, marker, sign paint, glass paint, mixed media,
found media, and digital media. Interestingly, Karen uses surplus
construction items—such as cabinet doors, tiles, and knobs—to
give them new life as repurposed art. Her recent works include fanciful
fish, lizards, suns, leaves, eyes, and other recurring motifs.
