Joe Longo

Joe Longo has a great fascination with archaeology, anthropology and paleontology, an interest he expresses in his art. These pieces require a considerable amount of research. It helps him to touch the lives and times that surround these artifacts. Joe works in wood as his medium of choice. He feels that wood communicates with him, especially driftwood. Sometimes he will have a piece of driftwood for years, then suddenly know what must be done.

Statement
I do my work because it pulls me to do it. It charges my battery. I do it so it may be passed on. It is the whipped cream of my life. My considerations are: What space will it fill? Will it speak? I want it to be affordable, unique, sometimes shocking, funny, a moment of escape.
